Director of Technology and Systems (4/99 - 6/2007)

Manage a local area network, servers and over 50 computer. Handle all Information Technology requirements. Direct the Audio/Video Manager and department, which includes Worship Center Sound, Tape Ministry, and special events.

Quebecor Printing (USA) Corp., Nashville TN.

Director, U. S. Technical Committee (6/97-12/98)

Directed quarterly technical meetings for the U.S. and bi-annual North American Technical Committee. Coordinated numerous pre-press technical initiatives including equipment, procurement, contracts, local plant coordination, group and/or corporate resources. Reviewed and critiqued all plant capital requests with the Technical Committee. Acted as the official U.S. liaison with pre-press vendors and dealers.

Corporate Purchasing Manager – PrePress (9/96 – 1/98)

Developed long-term pre-press consumables program for $30 million in purchases for Quebecor U.S.A.  After approval by the Operating Committee of Quebecor U.S.A., savings for one year totaled $4.2 million in costs, with better quality and service at the plant level. Requested by Jim Dawson (CEO of Quebecor U.S.A.) to take on pre-press equipment as well. Signed major contracts with Creo, Gerber, DEC, PrimeSource, Heidelberg, and others for two-year savings of $3.4 million.  In two years, total savings of over 8 million dollars were achieved for Quebecor.

Memphis Engraving Company, Memphis TN.

Director - Research and Development (1/96 – 6/96)

Explored future technologies such as PDF, Delta & Delta List, ATM, Internet and World Wide Web, Fiber Channel, Digital Photography.

Vice President – Manufacturing (1/95 – 1/96)

Responsible for all facets of production. Managed 24 hours, 7 day a week production requirement, with very tight deadlines, with seven department managers, six CSR’s and sixty production workers.  Memphis Engraving concentrated its sales to the very high-end color work. Negotiated and implemented over 2 million dollars worth of new equipment to keep Memphis Engraving on the cutting edge. Returned Memphis Engraving to a profitable, leading edge, color trade shop.

Manager of Manufacturing (6/94 – 1/95)

As a Plant/Production Manager installed new production system including Scheduling, Planning and Job Flow.  Handled 40% increase in sales volume over previous year.

Harrywell Inc.. Hot Springs, AR.

Director of Product Planning and Customer Service (4/93-5/94)

Managed the front half (Customer Service, Planning, Desktop and Pre-Press) of the company.  Along with Director of Printing, achieved ISO-9000 certification.  Installed new stripping/platemaking system to reduce labor on some jobs as much as 50%.  Reduced errors in pre-press, to a plate remake percentage of 1/2%.

Printing Center Inc., Fort Worth, TX. (1990 – 1993)

Project Manager

Under new ownership and with the assistance of the plant, I researched, negotiated, purchased and implemented (in one year) over 5 million dollars of new equipment.

My five major projects were: Finish the pre-press makeover, Install company’s first desktop publishing system, Upgrade the Covalent management system, Establish Budgeted Hourly rates (NAPL model) for entire company, Chairman of the Standard Operating Procedures Committee.

Pre-Press Plant Manager

Under direction of the managing consultant, started major training program in proper pre-press procedures.  Reduced plate remakes from 25% to 7% (and falling).  Re-negotiated supplies to save 13% on purchases of 1.1 million.  Negotiated, purchased, (including finding the way to pay for) and implemented $250,000 in basic pre-press equipment. Managed the art and customer service department as well.

R. S. Graphics, Fort Worth, TX.

Systems Manager (1989 – 1990)

Designed, installed, and trained personnel on Hell Cromacom Electronic Pagination System.
 

Digital Chromatics, Inc., Houston, TX.

Systems Manager (1987 – 1989)

            Lead operator on first Cromacom System.

            Promoted to position of manager upon installation of second system.

Gulf Printing Company, Houston, TX

Production Manager – Publishing (1982-87)

Responsible for the printing of seven monthly magazines from Gulf Publishing Company.  Produced the Composite Catalog of Oilfield Equipment (5 volumes, approximately 6,000 pages).  Total yearly sales 4.6 million for the publishing division.  Total sales for Gulf Printing was approximately 50 million.
